Are pecan wood chips ok?

Someone local to me is giving away huge bags full of pecan wood chips and sawdust. Is pecan pk to use around chickens and is the sawdust ok to use?They look more like really small shavings than dust

Should be ok.
Nothing too dusty though. I personally wouldn't use sawdust. Pecan is fine.

Ok, he has the chips and sawdust separated in different bags. I'll grab the chips.

Some sawdust is dustier than others.

I use sawdust, but the stuff I get is bigger than dust... it is just small flakes and great for bedding.

True dust is bad.

Yes, this sawdust is more like small flakes than dust.

I had the same idea but in our smoker instead

@Mamatomany123 - We had a family member with a Pecan tree that lost some huge limbs, and used the wood chips to smoke a Thanksgiving turkey one year

We smoke a Turkey every year on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Comes out sooo good.
