We use our home for a vacation rental (If you want to see: https://www.facebook.com/#!/BearRidgeLodge) When the renters left, their 7 boys had apparently played pellet gun wars the whole week all over our 25 acre property. I am finding the little pellets all over!!!!! I free range my chickens when we don;'t have renters. Are they going to eat all these pellets and die!!!!! Some were labeled biodegradable and some were not! How on earth am I ever going to get all these tiny green balls up off my property!? Will I never be able to let them free range again????? Ugg!

I really don't think you need to worry. Chickens may not be the brightest animals out there, but they are able to recognize food. If they do swallow one, they'll realize that it's not food and ignore them from that point forward. My husband roofed our house this past fall. I was in a panic because there were roofing staples and nails all over the place. I was a fanatic trying to keep them cleaned up. It was a fruitless endeavor. I kept a VERY close eye on our free range chickens and you know what? They left them alone. I think your chickens will be just fine.
