I'm expecting my first hatch in a few days:)

I've heard that pine shavings can be bad because of the aromatic oils. Any suggestions for other litter?

Thanks!

I believe it is the cedar chips that off gas and are not good for chicks.

Pine is good.

Every report I've read says that they are both bad. They both off gas but with different chemical compounds. I've used both without issue. But fresh out of the pack is probably a bad idea. Let it air out a good while. Or you could use aspin

The only pine shavings that should be used must be kiln dried. Otherwise, the natural oils will produce irritants for the airways.

eta - our feed stores only sell kiln dried pine shavings.
