Are PM's really Private?

This question has been on my mind since I joined my first forum some years back.

Does anyone have access to the PMs of all the members?

I have been told that the admin does but I wouldn't worry about that...they already said there is no interest there and NO time either! LOL

Actually, I'm pretty much the only one that can "read" them and it requires me to access the DB directly, so it is a big pain.

I never read PM's unless there is a legitimate reason to do so, for example: Someone sends a PM that they are being harassed via PM by another member, etc.
