Are polish tophats that stupid?

Quote:
Yep. They're that dumb. But in reality, it's the tophat that makes them dumb. They cannot see that it's raining, they cannot tell where shelter is...have you tried clipping their tophats?

Mine can see just fine and he's still a flighty space cadet.
He's exactly the way rustyswoman describes her birds, even down to roosting on the water bottle and pooping all over it.

Anyone want a white crested white Polish roo? He's SQ and won in 2 different shows....

Well the bird that died in the rain wasnt old enough to be blinded by his/her hair.

So I went out and trimmed my last remaining tophat from this:

i gave him a mullet. Business in the front, party in the back.

MIne are ding bats! I mean totally and uterlly duhh...with drool coming out the sides of their beaks! My 4 WC black pullets are 3 months old and will stay in teh rain no matter what-soaking wet right nest to the garage that has a heating light bulb on at all times!!!! My SQ SL polish roo-wow now he is not the brightest bulb on the tree-actually I dont think he even has a little light going on up there! gorgeous yes-but oh so ditzy. He runs into everything-I have had to hunt on more than one occasion for him to put him away at night! I put him on his roost and take him down in the mornings! I have clipped his top notch and now Im looking for a rubber band to help him see-but when it rains he can see so much better because his feathers get thin and wet!

The DH asked me last night if I was planning on breeding the trio of WC polish.

I would never inflict these birds on another person. At least not the ones I have.

Where is that fox when you need him?

Yes in fact I do believe they are that stupid. I went through over 30 pullets of them this year. And guess what i have left.... One rooster....

They seemed really wimpy, and died for no apparent reason.

10 of them drowned when it rained, although they could of flew up on the 6inch shelf beside them....

I won't be getting anymore... I've tried several times. And they just aren't hardy or smart enough for life at the farm.
