I may have finally found a bird to catch my wife's interest. She likes the Pumpkin Hulseys such as the ones that Greenfire Farm is breeding. She asked me last night if she could show them and I said I had no idea.

Do they fall into an APA recognized class? Could she show them? They are a game breed so I'm assuming they'd have to be dubbed?

They're a breed of Gamefowl. Yes, I believe they will have to be dubbed. Personally I wouldn't get them from Greenfire though.

As for showing - I'm not so sure. I think they're like Marans in which you may, but only at special meets or shows.

Here's the APA listing for the "other breeds" -

All Other Standard Breeds: Modern Game, Old English Games, Sumatras, Malays, Cubalayas, Phoenix, Yokohamas, Aseels, Shamos, Sultans, Frizzles, Naked Necks, Araucanas, Ameraucanas

I don't know much about them myself other than they are a breed/variety of game fowl. Happened to come across this here on the board when some showed up for sale. My wife saw them and was taken by their appearance. Since this is the first time she's shown any real interest I'm jumping on it.

I suspected that but I said I'd ask.

I may get some anyway. All of the large gamefowl that I've known made good broodies and they are a pretty bird.
