Are Rhode Island Reds mean?

I heard RIR can be mean. But I had always thought they were very friendly. Is that true?

I've heard that RIR roosters can be aggressive (as well as their offspring like Black Sex Links)
The people I've talked to did not work with their roosters daily to keep them friendly, so of course that has some factor to it, but as a generalization, I've heard this rumor to be true.

I had a RIR hen that was a vicious bully to the other chickens. I will not get another ever again.

We only have RIR hens and they are friendly to people and in the middle to lower end of the pecking order in our flock.

Eta: Our flock bullies are a Partridge Rock hen and our guineas, especially the male. In our secondary flock, we have a mean Blue Copper Marans hen who will cause pecking injuries to others if she's crowded.
