Hello,
I'm wondering if my Silkie is a bantam or standerd fowl. I've heard that they have bantam counterparts, and that they are just bantams. We are going to show soon and I need to know.
Thanks!

im pretty sure they can be both but im not sure...

In the US, only bantams are recognised, and there are very few that are larger than bantams. Silkies are one of the larger bantams, however.

Cocks weigh 36 oz, cockerels and hens 32 oz and pullets 28 oz.

Unless your bird is SIGNIFICANTLY larger than that, enter as a bantam. If it IS significantly larger, make a point of entering as largefowl and as an unrecognised breed.

In other countries, different weights apply.

Unless they look huge and feel heavy, they are almost certainly bantams. Chances are pretty high that you would know if you have large fowl silkies.

Anyone know where to get LF Silkies?
Does the size matter or is it just the weight?
