UP NORTHIN BAMA!!!
So me and my husband decided to get a hatchery surprise box and to our surprise two ducklings. They are now almost 2 months and finally we could identify them. Silver appleyards!!! I think they are the cutest things alive, but I'm wondering what can we expect. Are they good layers, or meat ducks? Should we possibly invest in getting a Drake if we don't have one for the girls? They crack me up when they interact with our turkeys and chicks. Such darlings but boy are they messy in water. What can I look forward to?

Do you have pics??? I love ducks and they can make wonderful pets depending on how you raise them.
If you know for sure that you have girls, I would skip the drake unless you want to hatch your own ducklings later. Drakes are pretty rough on the girls and I've ended more than one for that very reason.
From all the information I've read, it sounds like they are fantastic layers, which is great! Duck eggs are delicious.
Best wishes with your girls!

Wait....what ?
In the wild drakes partner up with ducks for life. They breed and reproduce more ducks.
It’s how life goes.

OK guys my ducks are grown up nOw...Cant determine male or female...One beak is more of a greenish color then the other. When they are apart they will call up a storm. Can yall help me tell the sex?
