Are some breeds really noisier than others?

It sounds like the consensus is a resounding, yes, Blue Andalusians are louder. As for other breeds like Orps, Austrolorps and EE or Ameraucanas, it seems like it varies from bird to bird.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your tips. I am not going to get a Blue Andalusian and if I had, I think I would have had to find her a new home. Thank you for saving me the money and the disappointment.

So far, my RIR and Ameraucanas are the biggest loudmouths. My RIR even scared off a raccoon attacker with her mouth.

I've had gold and silver wyandottes and they are very quiet. I don't recall my other breeds, but I think they were fairly quiet (PBRs, Buff Orpington).

Some days my BRs are really noisy, other days not. Lately they have been pretty quiet.

So far my EExLight Brahma crosses that Little Hen hatched are pretty quiet but they are only 14 weeks.

My Cuckoo Maran was very quiet, docile and very inquisitive. RIP Stripie :(

The RIRxBR BSLs I had growing up varied, boss hen was noisy as heck and it went down from there. They were very docile hens. But my roo was big, like to crow 24/7 and had an attitude that went through an adjustment period.

Hah! My BSLs are reeeeally noisy. Morticia sasses me all the time. And my EEs crack me up making theses loud growly rrrrrrrr sounds. I call them my Raptors! Just makes me think of a dinosaur! The BRs are getting almost as noisy as the BSLs. The GLWs make sweet little sounds so far. The (white) silkies are pretty quiet, except when the big birds chase them, then they're really noisy! Just found out this morning one of the them is a roo. He let out about 3 crows that almost sounded like a hen, but the last one sounded like a not-real-loud "er-er-er!" If he doesn't get any louder or do it all day long, I might be able to get away with keeping him!! I'd love to see some little baby silkies running around in the future....

I have golden comets, they are all quiet most of the time. Boss does the chicken song loudly for about 5 minutes. Weezee quietly for about 1 minute. Brokentoe, Lovey and Littleone, They DO NOT want ANYONE, to know they laid an egg. Absolute silence.
Them 3 just casually walk out of the coop like nothing happened. Yea. GC

The loudest bird I have is the Black Sex Link that we're watching for a friend. Besides her, our Russian Orloff can be talkative but not annoyingly so, and our silkies can be vocal too. But the worst by far is that Black Sex Link.

Good lord my Campine crows like a rooster and she is a hen. She's so loud and bossy and talks to us all day long. She yells for the other girls to follow her and keeps yelling until they listen if they don't she crows.
Loudest chicken in the world.

Our loudmouths are Speckled Sussex and Welsummers. The BR, Australorps, BOs, EEs, GLWs and SBELs make a little noise, but nothing like the SS and Welsummers.
