Are some of my "blue" Cochin chicks actually black or splash?

I have one frizzle right now that some days looks blue and some days looks black!
I think the darker ones come from black x blue breeding, lighter ones from blue x splash, and nice even ones from blue x blue. Even splash has varying degrees of blue thrown in. Fun fun!

I think you'll have to wait till they fill out a little more to be sure, but with mine, of they hatch yellowish, they stay splash. If they are going to be blue, it's obvious blue at hatch. Even a few light feathers to me makes them splash. Jmho

She looks blue to me. But but I think being frizzled can make it harder to tell.

Yea, she comes from blue x blue. Dad is very dark blue. Mom is medium

I definitely have two black chicks. Looks like they are both cockerels.

This is the one that I think is splash. Also a cockerel I think.

Here are 4 random blues. 1 pullet and 3 cockerels I think.

I just grabbed 7 random chicks out of the 18 and I happened to get 6 cockerels and 1 pullet. I hope this ratio isn't indicative of what I can expect from the rest of the bunch. I need to pull them all out one warm day and look them over.

I just a Cochin chick today! Sexed as a female, and not sure on the color. It's grayish, white and touched with black. It's so adorable! Her name is Rachel Lynde! I am now hooked on the Cochin breed!

Looks like I have as many blacks as blue. I'll get individual pics soon. But I don't think I have any splash. And I think I have more Cockerels than Pullets.

The 2 really light ones from your first post weren't splash?? Wow, they sure looked light.
And i have horrible luck with bantam cochin gender ratios!
