Are the fertile eggs that are forsale on ebay any good?

I moved the last post you started on this subject to BST to help you locate fertile eggs. Check out those responses. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=171519

Ebay
is just like anywhere..buyer beware. Do you homework and know what you're buying before you purchase. Reading feedback and the item description is important and don't hesitate to ask questions of the seller.

My husband has gone on ebay and has gotten alot of things and have been good and when we moved to texas in june '08 he wanted to get SOME chickens and horses but he has settled for just the chickens for now at least. Like i said we have gone on ebay and got two different sets of eggs and got them a day apart. put them in the incubator and all waiting the 21+ days and only 1 baby came out a few were clear ones and others had died inside the egg during the stages of growing. Not sure how old they were at the stage that they had died or from what really. so just read the fine print on what you are getting. by the way my husband has not learned from the mistake or ordering he has done it again so i have more coming in sometine this week. good luck on what you are trying to fine.

No, don't waste your time and money, they are no good. I don't know if it is the shipping, X raying by the post office or what, but we have had no luck with shipped eggs.

You would do better to find someone locally that has the breed you are interested in, and buy eggs from them.

I ordered from ebay and the guy sent me 18 one was broken when they arrived, that was pretty good to me . Mine havn't hatched yet and after candling them just before the 18 day of incubation I ended up with 9 eggs with chicks in them so I don't know if that's good or not and as I said don't know what theywill turn out . The one's I got were an assortment so I don't know what breed or breeds I will have yet>

I got 15 rare eggs (Java) off of ebay. I don't know anyone locally that has them. Anyway, they were from Arizona, I'm in PA. Not a single crack. They are in the bator right now, developing well so far. Check their feedback on ebay. I can't complain. I've gotten eggs from ebay, and here. I don't know where I'd get the eggs locally, so my choices were limited.

Can you send me their info? I'm in Arizona, and would like to get Javas eventually.

Shipped eggs arent always bad.. I got 18 eggs shipped to me.. And 11 of them hatched.. And only 2 quiters. And only 5 that didnt develop. All my eggs arrived, none broken.. Ive heard of some people getting better hatches than that.. Ive also heard of people only getting one or two eggs to hatch.. It just depends on the individual treatment of the box.. You win some you loose some.. Those are the risks.. I will be buying more through the mail after these ones are raised to adult size.. Hope I have good luck again..

Somethings work for some people but not for others. Our experience was bad.

Maybe it was the heat or something. Shipping through the mail, they put everything into a big semi trailers or the unheated cargo hold of a plane.

It is just like a slot machine. You put your money into it and give it a twirl. If it works out, great, but if not, you knew the odds when you spent the money. No gripping or complaining. But be aware that the odds are against you.
