Are there any hatcheries near me?

I live in the Madison County region of north Alabama. I hate the idea of ordering chicks because im worried that by the time they get to me they'll be sick or weak. I need a few reliable hatcheries within an hour of my area that are available for pickup when it comes to chicks. I'm new at raising chickens but i want to eventually be able to have my own hatchery. Im probably not going to order another batch of chicks for a while but i would like to look into places to get them from. Does anyone know somewhere in my area for me to get them from?


Im leaning towards these breeds

1.) Black australorps
2.) Silkies
3.) Ruffled cochins
4.) Red shouldered Yokohamas

1. Contact your county extension agent and talk to them. They may not know off the top of their heads but that is the kind of stuff they should be able to research for you.

2. Find the Alabama thread in the “Where am I? Where are you” section of this forum and talk to your neighbors.
