I have often wondered if religious faiths view any kind of not-straight sexuality as wrong because: they can't get pregnant and make more children that they will raise in that faith. (Long ago, people very rarely adopted kids, unless it was a direct relative's child, and that person died. You either had them or were childless.)
My mom once said that she thought Catholics were against birth control because if you have kids, you raise them in your faith, and that would make more Catholics.
Times have changed. I think religious faiths should think long and hard about embracing the current times instead of trying to keep everyone in a box in the past.
And, it pisses me off that some faith based adoption programs shun same sex (or any non-straight) couples. If people are trying to adopt, they WANT a child. There are so many children that need homes.
For all of you with unaccepting elders, I'm sorry. I hope they come around and realize you are still the wonderful child or grandchild you always have been.
