I am new to this chicken raising game and have two cockerals. One is a cochin bantam/standard auracana mix. He crows a lot to say the least. I also have a jerey giant who crowed right along with him and then stopped. He has finally started again but, it is infrequent and much more tolerable. I don't mind the crowing but, I'm afraid of neighbor complaints. My roos are legal in my area but, I don't want to get on anyone's bad side. Are there any breeds that don't crow a lot? I am butchering in the summer and have a barnvelder and cornish roo coming soon along with some unknown extras. Does anyone have any advice on which roos to keep? I am planning on keeping two roos but, may have to decide before I know which will be loud. I would prefer to keep larger roos so I can breed for size for meat but, also dual purpose breeds would be desired. After this mail order I plan to raise mixed breeds, keeping the hens for eggs and the roos for meat. I still have a week to change my order. Any suggestions?
