I know with dogs there are some brands of dog food that are absolute crap, and some that are much better. I was wondering if this was the same with chicken feed. Right now we are feeding Sprout (from Fleet Farm, a store in this part of the country) Chicken Starter, nonmedicated. Are there better feeds, or are they all about equal, if there are better, what are they. I'm pretty sure Sprout is the only kind Fleet Farm carries, but we also live near a feed store that sells some other brands, so just curious.
One other quick question. When the chicks are old enough to be moved off of starter, what should I move them to? We are using them for eggs and meat, and there are males and females. Would just layer be fine, or should I feed something else and supplement with oyster shell?
