These 2 were sold to me as black copper Marans. I've been told they're pretty hard to find in my area so I just want to make sure that's what they are. I've looked at a bunch of pics and they look very similar. Same coloring and a bit of feathering on the feet. I'm also not exactly sure how old they are. I was thinking 3-4 weeks? They seemed to have lost the fluff on their lower back and tail and have new feathers coming in.

Maybe feather picking? Can you see any mites or lice on them?

I'll check for lice and mites tomorrow but I was thinking feather picking. They were kept together with some production reds. One of which I originally took home. I ended up switching her for another Marans because she was beating the crap out of my wyadotte chicks. Not just pecking order stuff but grabbing and pulling on them and not letting go. I was worried she was going to do major damage. So I'm thinking that may be the cause.

Chicks of this age won't have lice or mites so it is feather picking.

Thank you! I was almost positive that's what it was. I did check them this morning and didn't see anything. Plus the only bald patches were on the back and tail where the feathers are exposed. I actually traded them for 2 gold laced wyandottes and I just wanted to make sure I was giving her the right breed. Also, that I wasn't giving her broken birds lol!
