I was told I was purchasing two pol hens for my mother (mother’s day present). The man said they were approx. 8 months old and brahmas. Breed wasn’t really important, it was more about some laying chickens for my mother. I have them to her just over a month ago and one is definitely a rooster and I think they were quite a bit younger than 8 months as the rooster is only just turning red and the hen isn’t red yet (in wattles and combs.) rooster has only just started crowing. Since I’ve been duped in a few areas, I’m just wondering if these chickens are brahmas? Are they crosses? Or Brahma bantems? Approx how old? These are the only pics I have right now which is from when the guy some them to me a month ago. They are much bigger now, the hen is probably about as big as an australorp and the rooster a bit bigger than an australorp hen (slightly taller).

The roo is the ginger one, right?
Does he have a single comb?
He doesn't have much comb growth. I don't believe they are 8 months either.
He has a Rose comb? Is that what they’re called? I don’t have any experience withanything but australorps and Plymouth rocks. I looked at him very quickly today and he didn’t have very big wattles either but definitely has roosters feathers and voice.

Ginger one is definitely a boy.
T could be crosses.
The black one looks like a black Cochin, but she has speckles on her neck.
Not very familiar with this type of breed, but the ginger one kind of looks like a buff Brahma, it just seems a bit off.
I would guess they are over 4 months.
The boy has saddle and hackle feathers.

I partly blame myself for the rooster as it was a very rushed purchase and didn’t even think to check! I just thought if I was to breed them together would I say they are Brahmas or Brahma crosses. I thought she was a cochin too after googling but she has a rose comb too... I’ll have to post some better pictures when I next go out.

Also do you think they are bantam? Or would the bantams be extra small?
