Are these burns?

I’m just going to preface this with the fact that I’m super new to chickens so forgive me if this is a dumb question!!!

This is my week old buff orpington chick. I have a heat plate and I’ve noticed some dark patches on her today that weren’t there before, could they possibly be burns or is she just losing her fluff in preparation for her feathers to come in?

Those don't look like burns to me, but if you are concerned you could always raise the heat plate.

Nope, they tend to look a bit raggedy when their new feathers start growing in. A week is usually around when my buffs began. They'll be in that awkward teenager phase until they reach their final form.

Sometimes they even get some bald patches when they're growing faster than their feathers can come in.
