I was told that my chickens were Ameraucana and Ameraucana Mixes... But I'm wondering if that's accurate. They haven't started laying eggs yet (we have another 2-3 weeks). I was told that my rooster is a purebred Ameraucana.

3 are suppose to be Ameraucana-Bantam, 3 are purebred Ameraucana, and 2 are Ameraucana-something, I forgot what. They said that the ones with gray legs were the ones that were purebred.

Can any of you experts help me figure out if these are Ameraucana and Ameraucana mixes?

There are four brown ones - I tried to get several pictures of them - two have a lot more white:

There are two black and white speckled ones:

Two that are more feather-y around the heads - one black and one white:

And my rooster - that I was told was purebred:

So what do you think?

all of them are Ameraucana mixes aka EE's. you can tell by their leg color as their legs are supposed to be slate in color. none of them look to be one of the 8 colors that are recognized

here's the ameraucana website for more info http://www.ameraucana.org/

That's what the guy told me - that the ones with slate legs were purebred Ameraucana - I realize you can't see it in the pictures but a couple of them do have slate legs - 3 of them. The rooster, not so much.I started this chicken thing for the eggs, so the breed doesn't really matter to me BUT the guy that told me about them did say that Ameraucana chickens are more expensive and so I did think that eventually I could let some eggs hatch and sell them, but if the rooster isn't purebred, then that isn't an option.

this guy right??

no he isn't pure, he is an ee.

1) he has green legs
2) he has no beard
3) his comb isn't right either

this is what a white cock/rooster looks like

the barred ones are probably going to be olive eggers and the red and white it looks like you have 3 cockerels and 1 pullet in them

these all appear to be cockerels based on color, comb, and feather development

Hdowden - you're clearly an expert :)

The only thing I really wanted with the chickens was the eggs - BUT I did not want white eggs... I wanted green and brown eggs - do you think that's what I will end up getting?

Would there be any reason to let any of their eggs hatch? The guy who told me what he thought they were said I should hatch the Ameracauna's because they're worth money if I sell them... But since everything sounds like it's mixed, I wouldn't think it would be worth it to hatch any of them to sell...

What do you think?

(I don't want to sell anything for meat - I eat meat but I can't know that anything I once raised and/or named will be eaten.)

In the picture on the left you have 2 Easter Egger cockerels, on the right you have an Easter Egger pullet.

All are Easter Egger cockerels.

Easter Egger cockerel.

There are two black and white speckled ones:
Barred Plymouth Rock pullets.

Two that are more feather-y around the heads - one black and one white:

1st one looks like a Silkie mix, can't tell from the 2nd picture.

And my rooster - that I was told was purebred:

East Egger, looks like he's mixes with White Leghorn.

You could hatch them for fun colored eggs. They would be worth as much as any fun colored egg layers. Aint nothing wrong with them, just not purebred Ams.
