hi folks, we got these birds (BA and Amerucauna) from a farm around here, 75% of them were roosters, go figure.

What I’m wondering is if these are cross bred, or if something is off about them.

I know Justin Rhodes BA hens clearly have bright red combs and wattles, mine are practically non existent on them.

By amerucauna hens, and rooster, seem to have shiny blue/green wing tips and tail feathers. Is this typical of amerucauna ? It’s my first flock

Also, on a side note, we also just got two silver pencil rocks and whenever they... do a number 2, they basically just crap all over themselves on the feathers and down by their vent. It also smells particularly bad, is there anything I can about this?

  • Don't worry about the light combs and waddles, pullets typically do not get them until they are ready to start laying.
  • Easter Eggers are crossbred, sort of like a mutt.
  • Black feathers typically have a green/blue/purple sheen to them. It's completely natural.
As for the Rocks, you can trim the feathers around their vent to prevent poop from getting stuck.

Hope this helps!
