My bet is that what they ment to say at the farmstore was plymouth rocks and instead said barred rocks. I would dare to venture that they are a pair (male and female) partridge rocks.
The first one looks like a Partridge Plymouth Rock cockerel and the second one looks like a Gold Laced Wyandotte pullet. Single combs are becoming more and more common in hatchery stock.
