Hi, I have 3 guinea hens and chickens I went out to collect the chicken eggs and I found 2 strange looks eggs in two different nesting boxes, could they be guinea eggs?
they look like guinea eggs due to their shape and size .....
I have found my free range guineas will often lay an egg or two
in anothers nest,,,,,duck egg nest,,,with chicken eggs or
just share another guineas nest..
Sometimes they will share a nest that already has eggs in it, sometimes they will drop them wherever. If yours continue to lay in the nesting boxes you are one of a very select few to be that lucky, lol so hope it continues.
I have three nest boxes in the guinea coop that my girls are laying eggs in. One girl has gone broody and is stating to sit most of the day and at night. I will try to take pics this weekend. Every night I tell them to lay in the coop so I do not have to look for nests out in the woods. So far they seem to be listening!
Congrats. My broody free range Guinea Hen chose a horrible spot right up against the fence (goat fencing) in some tall grass. She was sitting on incubator duds for a little over a week (I had collected her eggs and put them in the incubator but was going to give her her own developing eggs back if she stayed determinedly broody) but I could see something had been "visiting" her on the other side of the fence from the trails of packed down grass on the other side of the fence... so I decided to remove the incubator duds and destroy her nest. She will have to find a new spot, hopefully a safe one this time
