Are these insect eggs?

I found this Cuckoo Maran egg today which clearly had some bloom coating issues on the way out.
What was odd though were these hard uniform bumpy deposits that look like they might be insect eggs.
Or weird calcium deposits? I do give my birds oyster shell.
You can see in the picture they're external to the shell.

I get a lot of eggs, but never seen one like this before.
If anyone knows what the bumps might be, I'd love to hear.

Thanks in advance,

paul

From the pic it looks like a lot of extra calcium. Has she laid another egg since? If it looks like that, I'd take her to the vet. Otherwise, it's just odd. And, the advice above makes sense...what happened when you wash it?

They're calcium. Don't change what you're feeding her, it's not from an excess in diet. It's just a glitch new layers can go through. You can get some really weird shells--lumpy, bumpy, ridges, waves, weird shapes, calcium deposits---and then the hen can just forget to put the shell on altogether

. It's one of those things you'll never see on store bought eggs cause they screen them--but we get to experience with our very own birds!

I agree 100% - it's just calcium which has ben deposited unusually, and is nothing to be worried about.

After leaving the egg for a week to see if anything hatched,
I think I'm gonna concur with the calcium deposit theory.
The bumps were hard, not squishy.
Subsequent eggs from the same hen were normal and I haven't seen anything like this again.

Thank you to everyone for your comments.
I'm a BYC Newbie, but not new to raising chooks.

I've had this before and I'm wondering the same thing
