Are these maggots or roundworms?

While cleaning my coop yesterday I saw hundreds if these. They are up to 1/3" in length and have one flat end. Do I need to treat my flock?

Yuck! Did you have a wet spot in there? Spoiled food? Cleanup is good! And maybe some permethrin powder of spray too.

You don't need to treat your flock but you would be well advised to invest in some fly predators next year. Those are maggots and they will grow into flies. Fly predators will prevent that. You can find them online and if properly managed they are very effective in keeping the fly population at a tolerable level. More people ought to use them. They are most effective if you start using them early in the season. Fly traps are helpful too.

I agree about the fly predators, and have used them from Spalding.
I meant that some permethrin in the coop on the floor would be a good thing, not to treat as for mites or lice.
