Are these mites??

We got ducks last week, they are a month old, at night I keep them in a dog crate, i noticed these little bugs on the crate the last couple day, I wasn't thinking much of it at all.. But then when I noticed 15+ in a little group I got worried.. Could these be mites? I haven't noticed any on the birds themselves, but I am going to do a more thorough check when I get home.

They are both itty bitty, best pics I could get.. The white specs are paint splatters.. Sorry no size comparison :/

Mites are arachnids (spiders) and have 8 legs as adults. Lice all have 6 legs (i think) and spend their life on the bird in question.

Neither mites or lice have wings.

First one kinda has shape of a louse......but I don't know how many millimeters 'itty bitty' is ;-)

Google chicken lice to look at some pics....look around vent of chickens, part the feathers right down to the skin.
