Are these things all normal - First time with Chicks

This is a good answer: Mother of vinegar, often tenderly called simply “mother”, is a slimy gelatinous material that is found in unpasteurized vinegar. In general it is the growth of acetic bacteria which are responsible for turning alcohol into vinegar. The acetic bacteria which are the heart of the mother of vinegar are usually filtered and killed by pasteurization in most non-organic vinegars. However, the mother of vinegar when present in the final product, especially that in cider vinegar, has countless health benefits. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-the-health-promoting-properties-of-mother-of-vinegar.htm

And
mrsgibber - congrats on your new chicks! I don't blame you for being nervous, given your previous experience - but I will tell you that even with no prior experience at all, I had the same concerns when I got my first babies!

Enjoy those precious little fuzzy butts!

Thanks I found Cider Vinegar at the store yesterday and started using it. The babies are all doing very well. I just love em!

Were you sure to get the right kind like everyone was suggesting and not just plain ' apple cider vinegar' found in the regular isle?
