Are They Dead!! Or What!!

My Leghorns hatched on Day 23 - I purchased two new digital thermometers/hygrometers & found by comparing them to my old thermometer that my humidity levels were way off (I thought I was at 60% but really only around 50%) and my temps (thought they were 101 but they were only 99) had been too low using my old thermometer. Don't know if that was the reason for sure - but late hatches can happen. We had 6 out of 11 hatch out, 1 has since expired. 3 hatched early in day and 3 hatched later in day.

The remaining eggs were checke don Day 24 and none were viable any longer.

Smell the eggs, any stinky egg should be thrown away. If they don't stink it sounds ok, just wait... Good luck

Hey, just caught this thread, good luck, and keep us posted. It's good for others to see that eggs can actually go this long and hatch...we hope the same goes for you!

When I did my silkies I keep my humidity levels the last 3 days at 50 to 60%. I would think it all depends on where you live about the humidity because I had no water in the bator at first and my humidity was 35% so I didn't add any water. I would rather have not enought then to drown them. I wish you luck.

If your temp was down at all that could be making them late.
