Are they hens? (unknown age and breed)

First time with chickens. We adopted some from a friend and have been watching these two little ones grow up

and trying to decide, hens or not?

Both are hens. I think that they are about four months old, based off of comb size and body feathering. I'm not sure on the breed, and they may be mixes. However, the brown one might be a Welsummer mix, and the mainly blue one could be mixed with a Blue Copper Marans.

Both are pullets. One is probably a Blue Copper Marans or BCMs mix. The brown one looks like some sort of mix as well; probably has either Welsummer, Partridge Rock, or Easter Egger ancestry. Pretty birds!
