Are they Molting or is Something eating their feathures

Been for a couple of month now. Backs are bare now they are loosing feathers on the head. I am just wondering if they are molting or is something eating them. I checked them and i don't see any lice or anything else on them. So maybe point me to an informative article on molting.

How old are they? Is the skin just bare or broken? If this is not their first winter, and there is not an agressive roo with them, I'd say it is probably molt.You can find pics of molting birds if you search the forum. Prepare to be astounded.

Sounds like their molting. Up their protein this will help them grow their feathers back.Molting can sometimes take a long time.

no roosters, 23 hens 7 months old. Their first winter. Yes they do look like the pictures online. They are loosing feathers where they suppose to. I guess molting just takes long time. Backs are bare with new feathers sticking out.
