Are they RIR - Or Red Stars?? *UPDATE - PICS ADDED*

Both the chicks and the grown pics look EXACTLY like my mother in laws chickens and hers are red sex links , I forget if they were cinnamon queens or isa browns, one of those two , but they definitely look like sexlinks !! They will be egg laying machines and will still be cold hardy as the breeds they use for sex links are cold hardy breeds .

yup, I agree, red stars! RIR according to the standard are a really dark almost burgundy-chocolate brown. True RIR are on the rare poultry list due to much interbreeding. Real RIR birds are a bit nutty and some people say they can be cranky. One of my fellow 4hers has a set of bantam RIR and they are not what people are used to seeing.

They look like my red sex links. Nice birds, good egglayers.

Kind of disappointing when you don't get what you thought you were getting. But you did get something good, just unexpected.

These look just like the 3 I have. Now I know they aren't RIR's like I was told. My boys love them as they are so well tempered. Glad to know they are my laying machines, as I have 16 light Brahmas and don't know which are laying well or not.
