Are they still alive?

Okay, well I picked an egg that I thought was alive and poked a hole in the air cell and discovered it is dead afterall. I am going to do that to the rest and see if I have any lucky ducks. I will keep you posted.

Not sure what causes babies to not turn properly to pip into the air cell. Seems to happen to at least 1-2 per batch. You can perform eggtopsies and use this as an opportunity to learn how to open shell, then outer membrane, then inner membrane... one layer at a time... with precision and care. There are ways to tell that the baby is not turning properly when candling up to day 25-26 and you can learn skills to help the next wrong way baby in future hatches, if you desire. Do one you know for sure is dead first... then try on one you hope may be alive. Enter where you see the stain.

They were all dead and they all seemed to be in the right position minus the one I knew for sure was dead...little too late to tell what was up with him. I can't dwell on what was lost just be happy for the 5 new ducklings and my 2 golden polish! It is such a learning process and I will try again next spring! Thank you for all your help. I truly appreciate it! Happy Easter!
