we had a big rotten tree fall with the recent storms from tropical storm Ida....my husband was hacking away at the rotten stump reainig and has found tons of big, fat, white grubs. He was thoughtful and put them aside for the girls....are they safe for them to eat?

I hope so because mine have gorged themselves on them this summer

We cut down a bunch of pines and the chooks follow DBF aroung begging that he strip bark off the logs so they can have the grubs. They have him trained because he'll go and do it for them!

Bugs are protein for them. Any insects are great!!! The only thing to be concerned but you really can't avoid if gape worm. It a small worm that gets in their throat and will cause them to breath with great difficulty. This is from earth worms that have the larva inside them. I don't know if chickens get this fram any insect. So, this is knowledge for the sake of information.
