Are trees and brush in chicken run ok??

I wouldn't put chickens in with any small tree you actually LIKE. I have only 2 chickens that *were* free roaming my yard...they got banished off to the side yard today when I saw what was left of my nectarine tree.

If my girls did anything bad to my choke cherries trees or autumn olive shrubs it would only make me love them more!!!! We have a bazillion of both

I have several trees along the inside of my run next to the fence. I just cut the netting to go around the tree. I then just zip tied the netting back together on the other side. It's worked great so far and I've had my run for 5 years this way. I do have to cut back the new growth once a year that springs up from the bottom of the trees.

What kind of netting did you use? I have an already frenched area, but there a a lot of hawks in my area so I need to cover the top.. there are a bunch of trees in the area though.
