Are we all little girls??

Thanks Linda, your Roo is a beauty and so proud of his ladies. Looks like they are out on a stroll.

My Cochin Roo, Mr. Gray, is such the man, he is a good boy and doesn't mind me holding him once I catch him. I need to get a good picture of him.

I actually like hearing the crow, but we live in a prim and proper neighborhood. Can you imagine those people hearing a rooster crowing and wondering where in the world he came from. Maybe I just need to talk a few more neighbors into having their own chickens.

to many Roos are hard on the hens. I just had to get rid of one because he attacked every one, grand kids were afraid to go out in the yard. The last time he went after me when I was planting and knocked my grass' off and broke them, he went to visit the Amish with the meat birds the next week, Now I have 2 more in my teens that are 9 weeks old and were supposed to be all hens. Any one need a handsome hen, whoops , Rooster?

my silver laced wyandotte pullets look just like #6. i also have a gold laced wyandotte roo who is younger than the pullets, and he has much more pronounced wattles and comb than they do. i wouldn't give up on #6 just yet.

Oh thank you Cerridwenn!!! Maybe there is hope. Aren't they just beauties! I can't wait to see what they will look like when they grow up. Right now they are young and care free with their friends.

Number 6 looks "roo-ish" to me compared to the others in the pics.

I hatched 2 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and they both look as if they will be cockerels

. They look around the same age as yours and their combs are turning red. I'm in Massachusetts if anyone is interested in them (these eggs came from DaveA's eggs that I ordered on BYC). I already have 4 roosters plus I see lots of emerging roos in my hatched batch of chicks.

Eye Candy is right!! I have an "accidental EE roo", also!! He looks related to yours. EE's sure make handsome fella, don't they?

He is such a nice boy....so good to his ladies and very tolerant of the other roos as long as they behave themselves:

My accidental roo's son-- who is just as nice as his dad:

How, exactly, can you tell roos from pullets when they're young? I have 47 chicks, a variety of pullets and 25 mixed heavy roosters (most will be detined for the table). I'd like to be able to tell them apart, but I can only recognise some of them by breed. I know how many hens and what breeds they should be, but I don't know how to tell all of the breeds apart as chicks and I may have roosters of some of the same breeds as I have hens. I'd like to be able to tell by the time they go out to the coops, because the hen coop is more securely built (we couldn't afford hardware cloth for both, so had to settle for chicken wire for the roos).
