She refuses banana, but will drink lots of water. How do I go about treating her as if her crop is impacted? Could it hurt to treat it, even if it isn't?
Ok, she ate a little bread soaked in oil and is going to town on some yogurt. I took away all the other food (she has access to water and yogurt). I massaged the lump in her crop and it seemed to flatten down a bit pretty quickly and she seemed to perk right up. Of course, I realize time will tell. In the meantime, if you have any other suggestions I would appreciate hearing from you.
Yes it is very good news! She seems to be doing much better this afternoon, and I am cautiously optimistic
I think it may have been the beginnings of an impacted crop (I say beginning because the lump I massaged loose was only the size of a walnut, while all of the pictures I have looked at of impacted crop seem much much larger). She is walking around and talking to me now, preening, and her eyes are shinier.

I have also had this hapen to me with a silkie and no luck, she sadly passed. I am wondering what this is? I was thinking maybe something to do with genetics?..
Good luck!
It sounds like she may have been getting an impacted crop. I think it's more common in the winter when they tend to drink a bit less. I'm so glad she's better. Might better keep her on soft food for another day until you are sure everything has passed. Her poo did look too watery too. How is it now?
Yep, I will keep her on soft food tomorrow. She got a little oil soaked bread today, yogurt, and some wet cat food. Her poo did look watery. Would the crop have anything to do with that? It looks much better now. Like normal.
Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for your help. Just seems like I get the hang of being my chickens' keeper when something new crops up (pun intended).
Update! Lucky Duck was up and at 'em with her pals this morning looking and acting like normal. Hurray!
I am keeping her on soft food today to make sure everything is running smoothly (wet cat food, yogurt, banana). Thank you all so very much for your help! In my inexperience I was ready to chalk this up to broodiness and I may have very well lost her. So thank you again!
