Are we doing something wrong????

I know it’s hard when you are waiting but the biggest thing with most hens is natural light hours instead of age.
most of ours regardless of age pretty much stop laying during the short days of winter but will lay like crazy once the days start getting a bit longer.
pullets that are old enough to lay will only lay sporadically too until the days get longer.
by March you’ll be on a roll.
That's such a relief to hear. We just wanted to make sure that we weren't missing something. My post isn't a complaint at all. My chicken children are such a joy. They are incredibly spoiled and demanding because I wanted them to be. It's going to be great to get eggs from them, but that's just a happy byproduct of having chickens. To me, they're just like my dog and my cats.....and believe me, my cats contribute pretty much nothing lol and they're still very much loved. Since there's just 2 of us, even though we're very excited to eat fresh eggs, we'll probably end up giving most of the eggs away to family and friends. We were far more concerned that they weren't laying yet because of something we weren't doing than we were with them not being productive enough.
