See I interpreted the OP to mean you didn't need to go overboard when caring for chickens; that you didn't need to worry about such things as...say, if your free range chickens come across a poisonous plant (they have enough sense to know what's okay to eat and what's not). Letting chickens be chickens doesn't have to mean you don't provide them with proper care - yes, my chickens do have misters and fans during the hot days of summer - it just means you don't fret over every little thing.
