I have 5 Coturnix in a very nice/large above ground hutch. It's getting cold here in Missouri, so I give them a lot of substrate including cardboard/newspaper/aspen chips/leaves and hay - whatever I can find or have on hand. I do this for several reasons: they like to hide under it, it keeps them warm, stops them from bullying and it's a little easier on the feet. I happen to have 2 large bags of White Pine needles that are pretty soft and not sappy. Would it be okay to throw some of this in as part of my constantly changing bedding material for my Coturnix pets?
