I've brooded in dead cold of winter and the dead heat of summer. I've never noticed any chicks>pullets>hens being any better or stronger than the other.
My late fall chicks were a bit slower maturing for rooster combs and egg laying compared to spring and summer hatches. My winter chicks have matured right on their heels. My guess this was due to a lack of sunlight, but can't say for sure.
I think there's no real difference, the brooder should be same temp in the summer as in the winter so it's the same. Interested if anyone with a LOT of experience has views on this
