Are Wyandottes good chickens?

I have heard they are aggresssive with others, but overall,I'd say great with kids.

I like our Wyandottes. We have both silver and gold laced in the flock at the moment. They are not our "pet" birds in the flock, but they are not overly standoffish, skittish or aggressive - just not lap birds. They are quite social with us, like to come in and have a chat with us when we are in the coop or if we are out supervising some free range time - willing to be touched and handled but not ones to seek it out. They are among our best layers and consistently give the largest, nicest eggs of all our birds and have been the most reliable through this winter (along with our BOs). We have six total out of a flock of 17 and they are definitely the top six birds, and don't hesitate to remind any of the others that forget their place - but they do not go out of their way to be needlessly aggressive, just do what they feel needs done to keep the pecking order in line.

I'm glad you joined us!

For many of the reasons other posters have stated, I highly recommend Wyandottes, too.
