Are you a Boxer lover????

I have a Boxer and he is sooo sweet. (He is a little on the slow side if ya know what I mean.) He contracted parvo when he was a puppy, and I really think it has had a lasting effect on him. For example: I would always crate my dogs when I would leave for a couple of hours. He would go berserk and defecate in the crate, and absolutely throw himself at the bars and would hurt himself. (I think it may have triggered memories of his 2 night vet stay when he was very sick.) So, no crating for him.
When he was older, we put him in a large pen (20x40) thinking he could stay in there for a time when we were gone for a bit. (Complete with dog house, toys etc.) He actually chewed through the chain link!
Finally, because he had issues and would destroy things when left alone in the house, (My brand new digital camera for one-it wasn't even out of the box yet, AND it was sitting on the dining room table) I bought some doggy drugs! (More of an herbal concoction) It contained Saint John's Wort and worked miracles. I would just give it to him approx 1/2 hour before I had to leave. It just made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside!?
In any case, he has outgrown all of that- plus we moved from the city to 5 acres, and he is in heaven. He thinks the world belongs to him!! He needs to be trained around chickens though. He met them through the fence and he tried to snap at them. I guess that's another issue to work on.

These stories are cracking me up

Here is a list of the things that have been eaten or destroyed lately, mostly by our younger white boxer Sophie. She has had major anxiety issues. While we are home they are the best behaved dogs. Once I leave it is like a switch flips.

1. Camcorder... I left it on the table thinking dogs don't chew up camcorders do they? Apparently they are very tasty.

2. 6 bags of microwave popcorn just delivered from the boy scouts... that was lovely to clean up.

3. A boat load of Halloween,Christmas and Easter Decorations.

4. A huge bag of starbucks coffee... I was a little irate about this one. They didn't actually eat it, just spread it all over the floor.

5. Numerous plates of cookies, loaves of bread... they love to counter surf.

5. My male Duke ate an entire jar of Vaseline. I rushed him to the emergency vet, this happened about 11:00 p.m. They examined him and told me to just let it pass. This 5 minute conversation cost $150.....

I am probably making them sound awful, most of the time they are very good. I don't crate them when I am gone, Sophie is way to anxious for a crate. I buy her DAP collars to wear. They look like flea collars, but they release a calming pheromone. They have worked wonders for her. We had her on doggie Prozac for awhile but that did not seem to work for her. Luckily I am a stay at home mom, so they usually don't get left alone for long periods.

The most expensive thing that was destroyed in our home was by my cat. He felt the need to sink his teeth into a brand new leather chair. He is declawed, but managed to rip holes all over the chair with his teeth

We also can not leave flip flops or crocs laying around or he will put nice little teeth marks in them. I could go on for days about this cat.. he is really naughty!!

OMG Chickadee that was the hardest laugh I have had this morning-- way to funny I am sorry for your lose's LOL.
I know what you are going through with the lets see what taste good while mommy is not looking thing !!
so far our " kids" have done pretty good, they mostly lay around and sleep while in the house and we have ways to deal with the leaving them home part -- Wally and our crippled dog Dixie both come in to the bathroom where they have a nice bed to sleep on, Abbey the nut job goes in her crate, and Daisy stays in the livingroom, as long as they are all split up like this we will come home to a normal house but left together that is a mess waiting to happen LOL during warm weather they all go outside ( except Abbey) while we are not home.
I put up the christmas tree and so far they are leaving it alone but last night me and DH were relaxing dogs were playing and Wally went over to the tree and up went his leg thank god as soon as I mentioned his name he ran to the back door and DH let them out - I checked the tree he did not have time to " do his thing " so nothing was wet I guess he got confussed " oh look it is snowing outside how nice of mommy and daddy to give me an indoor potty "
But I love them - they can be a handful but they are worth it !!
