My DH and I have always been fans even before we met. When I was a teen I listened to the races on the radio because they weren't televised ( how hard core is that!!) We used to go to every CA speedway race. We have gotten so many people that didn't like nascar into it. a lot of them now won't miss a race. As for us , after Senior died our heart wasn't in it. I still have no favorite driver, just root for ALMOST everyone. Being a die hard senior fan, I guess you know who I don't root for.
In our opinion, ever since nextel took over and changed EVERYTHING, the races just aren't as much fun, the competition has gone out a lot. We had to stop watching a few years ago as we had too much work to do remodeling our house to sell. I would tape the races and we would watch them at night over the week, but someone was always letting it slip to us who won.
Now that we are in the mtns. we choose not to have tv. We DO miss the races, foxnews, history chnl, discovery chnl., and of course pro footbal. That is all we watched.
In Feb. we are taking our DGD to her first nascar race! She has been bugging us for years. We thought we'd wait until she was nine so she could actually enjoy the whole experience.
By the way, the walls of our weight/ammo room are lined with Dale Senior things!!

I forgot, we now live near Bakersfield, home of MANY nascar racers. They are almost finished with a new nascar track there!!!
