Wow - it seems that they have terms for just about everything now and prepper is one that I just heard for the first time on Wednesday. Apparently a prepper is someone who prepares for TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It) by hording guns, ammo, food, patassium iodine, water, and.....wait for it ...chickens!

I am a TOTAL prepper.

Anyone else out there a prepper?

And on a serious note, you can get more info here:

Ok, I first read it thinking you were asking me if I was a "pepper"- and I was gonna say, "Oh, I dring Dr. Pepper on occasion, but only if I'm out of cream soda!" Bus since that is not the question here...
Yea, I am a prepper... but the current ammunition shortage has be a bit baffled.

When will we get our bullets back?

Proud Prepper here. As soon as I hit 100,000 rounds of ammo I concentrate on the next set of needs...... Twinkies. Those things never go bad and they are loaded with fat and cholesterole!!!! I have to have something to take place of McDonald's when TEOTWAWKI happens

I lean towards being a prepper. I do think about it and how I would hide my chickens from marauders. The hens would be easy - but the roosters would be terrible to hide.

I'm a prepper
your a prepper
would you like to be a prepper too

sorry just being silly!

I have never allowed guns in the house because I have a son with ADD and could see him blowing his own foot off. I would say in the last year though I have changed my mind about having a gun or two or three. He is 17 now and I think would handle it.

My husband works for the military and knows guns pretty well. I on the other hand know nothing about them.

Ol'FashionHen :

Somewhat prepper, what is the potassium iodine for?

In the event of a nuclear attack or explosion, it is likely that radioactive iodine will be released into the atmosphere. Survivors would breath, eat and drink it at some point. The thyroid gland absorbs a lot of the radiation taken into the body. Non radioactive tablets of KI (Potassium Iodide) would block absorption in the thyroid to some degree.
