Are YOU "ALLOWED" to shoot fox that is after your chickens??

Well thanks for the help. I am not a hunter so I didn't know what kinds of rules there were about this kind of thing. I will call the Dept. of Wildlife around here. I never thought about each state having different laws about it. That is how much I know about hunting laws. LOL!!

Live Trap.

You can ask your local game and fish to loan you a live trap. Set it up and then ask them to come remove it when you've caught your fox.

Colorado? Hmmmm, I lived there for 7 years, and I really suggest that you DO call the Division of Wildlife, especially depending on what area you live in. There's at least one species that is protected, (Kit Fox I think) and they'll probably help you trap and then move them for you.

I live in Minnesota but it may be true in CO also. I asked the DNR at a Pheasants Forever Event about predators and chickens. I can shoot a fox, weasle, anything that is preying on my chickens except birds of prey, Hawks, Owls, ect. Call the Department of Natural Resources.

Make sure to check your state law,here in Ohio we can. Shooting foxes out of season can be a big fine.

Just nice to know what you can kill legal when they get after your birds.

Game laws by state are different. Here a Game Warden can come on your land anytime they like. If they find dead animal they do check to see if someone shot them.

In Ohio coyotes are fair game if they are coming after your pets or livestock. I would think all states should be the same with predators. But again, I think the SSS method is the best.
