Congrats!! looks like our girls are over achieversMy pilgrim Beatrice laid her 31 egg today. She started March 9 and has laid pretty regularly. I got her from Metzer's and their website says they lay 20-25 so I'm not sure if this is unusual or if their numbers should be 30-35? She turned a year old last week BTW.
You crack me up, Miss Lydia! I wish my geese were done laying eggs. It has been in the mid to high nineties here, and they are still going. I put them in the bator. It is too hot for sitting now. They took a week off, and then started up again by the power of Missy suggestion. LOL!It's so ugly it's cute.![]()
I know RG Missy is not a good influence. she is up to # 54 now. and if she keeps it up will be laying # 55 tomorrow morning sometime. and she is determined to have the ducklings that hatched last week. The only thing keeping her from it is fencing. You crack me up, Miss Lydia! I wish my geese were done laying eggs. It has been in the mid to high nineties here, and they are still going. January
I want one!
Usually around a year. Mine were hatched April 28, 2012 and she laid her first egg March 9, 2013. It's more like the first full spring after hatched assuming they were hatched early spring. I don't know if they start laying under 9 months old but I suspect not. Pilgrims are pretty good layers. Metzer farms says their average is 20-25 eggs a season but my girls is almost up to FIFTY!!!Does anyone know what age female geese start laying? Mine are about two months old, and I think they have to be at least six months, but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance!![]()
