I have a trio of really nice Light Brahmas, they do not seem to lay very well maybe 3-4 eggs a week from 2 fully grown 1 yr old hens. How do yours lay?? any better than mine??. What can I realisticly expect to get??.

Yes they are both laying, and are getting as much light as the others who are laying like crazy now ( warm weather here ). I have only had them for a month or so.

No, that's odd... once mine started laying they've been very consistent at 5-7 eggs a week each.

If they have light and plenty of feed, they should be good. Have you checked for lice? That can make them slow down or stop all together.

hi folks, I was wondering if anyone else has any of the Light Brahmas breed in KY.. We have had chickens for over 30 years, many different breeds, But last spring ordered the LB and they have been great egg layers all winter long. In the past other breeds usually stoped laying for a time during the winter. The girls are doing great but the rooster may be in the pot soon!!! He's been beating up on the dog...............

Just a thought maybe just settling in getting used to flock!

going into a slow molt because, of move! My Brahmas seem to do a particle molt just around head/neck (& they continue to lay, just not as much!)
