Are Your Muscovys Still Laying Eggs?

If you have any bakeries or local chefs that bake, they may enjoy baking with them. I have a lot of people who bake that buy ALL of the duck eggs.
And you added 3 more???!!!!!!!!!!

That should be fun.
I bet the dogs like the scrambled eggs. Those jokers are hard to scramble for some reason.

LOL.. i had too, i needed more girls, one of out my last hatch(total of 9) was no way enough, i traded my one drake for 3 chocolate girls... the not so good part is I did not sell another drake this year so now i have all 7 boys and of coarse kept the one girl i did get...

So a drake flock will be made next spring of the baby boys and the two older guys will stay with the 8 girls. So total of 17 'scovies... people speak of chicken math? heck no duck math, the chickens are capped at 4 and that will NOT change lol

all but one has stopped. she is laying every 3 days or so. One is broody on a large clutch. I dont expect eggs past the beginning of November. Goose eating eggs waiting list, we wont have many since we sold off the africans.

Chocolate, I love chocolate. My Muscovy girls stopped alying about 3 weeks ago, I was so glad because I still had on in broody mode. No one eats duck eggs around here I steam and feed to the dogs and also to the flock.

What's an average of eggs for a muscovy duck per year? Do they lay more their first year and then slow down? Do they go broody their first year? How many eggs do they lay before they go broody? Sorry for asking so many questions altogether but I'm trying to be ready for what to expect this coming year as my ducklings will be 6 months old by the begining of February. Also when will the drake start trying to hump the duck?

I have no idea what the average amount of eggs would be, i have never counted plus i think it varies by bird. My first two ducks started laying at 4mths old. Yes, they go broody their first year, well they can.. i had 4 that did, partly how my flock increased in size. The amount of eggs in the nest will again vary by bird, they lay as many as they want to 'set' and will usually start to kick duds out down the way.

I had a 4.5mth old drake attempt to mate last night to give you an idea...
