argh. Found an egg in the run...

Do you have golf balls in the nest boxes? This was the only way I could discourage my hens from laying in the coop. I haven't found one out of place yet! I put two golf balls in each of the three nests. They will use all three nests.

I have one golf ball in each of the three nests. They've been there since before they started laying.

We had one girl laying in the corner of our coop about every other day but then our turkey decided to build a nest there and she and the chicken had a standoff of sorts over the corner. We intervened and put the chicken in the nest box with her newly laid egg just a few days ago and we haven't found another egg on the floor of the coop. We hope she got the idea to use the nest box instead.

If i can catch her laying I'll try that but I've only seen a couple of them actually in the process of laying. I'm going to put something in that corner and see what happens. I figure it can't hurt to try.
