My sons and I are getting our birds ready for fair in 2 days, so we are bathing them. During the bathing process we discovered that my one son's silkie roo has lice! We bathed him in a dog flee and tick shampoo. Will this work for the lice, or should I still dust him with sevin? I don't have any on hand, but I could run to the store. Also, even if I dust him with sevin tonight, will I be able to bring him to the fair in 2 days? How long does it take to kill them? Also, I have only found them on the one roo, but should I assume that all the chickens probably have them? (He is kept in a cage since he is a show bird, and does not room with the others, but his cage is in the same coop as everyone else) Anu help would be really appreciated! Thanks so much!!

Frontline spray (works for three months)...it works fast. My friend uses it for her show birds and she said it works better then anything she had ever tried. A spray under each wing, on the neck, and above the vent area about an inch (not on the vent though)

I've heard of Frontline for dogs & cats, but it is an oil that comes in a tube-like thing you break the top off of. Do they make a spray, and can you buy it anywhere? Frontline is usually bought from a vet's office.

The Adam's spray...do I have to try to get it down to the skin level, or is just misting in the areas mentioned good enough? And will it leave an oilly residue behind?

Thanks so much for responding guys, I knew I could count on the people here!

I have started using Zodiac flea and tick spray on my chickens every time there is an infestation that I need removed immediately. The spray is in an alcoholic base so it soaks right through the feathers. It kills all the bugs it comes in contact with immediately, and doesn't seem to show any side affects on the birds. Besides them being mad at me for a few days. I have given up using most dusts, since they don't really seem to work up here.

I hope this helps.
